ONEtoolSM PROVIDES DATA SECURITY FOR FLORIDA YACHT CHARTERS
Susan Everhard, co-owner of Florida Yacht Charters & Sales, Inc. in Miami Beach, remembers the devastation caused by Hurricane Wilma when it hit the Florida coast in October 2005. Many of her company’s documents in the Key West office were damaged by severe winds and rain. Shortly after that disaster, she switched to Secured Marine Trust’s (SMT) ONEtool software, where many standardized brokering forms are preloaded to a central server. “As a result, now we don’t worry as much about damage to paper records in the office,” she said.
Everhard and her husband, Bob, co-own Florida Yacht Charters, a licensed yacht brokerage, new yacht dealership, and yacht charter management company that employs 10 full-time brokers.
Said Everhard, “Before ONEtool, when we used the Florida Yacht Broker’s Association forms, we had to print blank forms, fill them out, and fax them back and forth. After a few times, the wording became difficult to read.”
She added, “It’s nice to not have to retype data over and over again. Now you fill the form out once, and it’s easy to make changes.”
Some brokers, she noted, were reluctant to switch to a new system. But once they did, they realized ONEtool is easy to use. “It has some neat features that actually save the brokers time,” Everhard said.
With ONEtool, Florida Yacht Charters can also enter its brokerage listings on two major listing services at one time, including Yachtbroker.com and Boatquest.com. “This is what we’d hoped for – to list our boats in one place, and have them uploaded to more than one site.”
Founded in 1983, Florida Yachts Charters has satellite brokerage offices in Key West and Amelia Island, Florida. It also has bareboat charter fleet bases that feature sailing and motor yachts.
Florida Yacht Charters is the parent company of a new venture, SailTime Miami, Inc., specializing in fractional yacht ownership.
