Along with his partner J.B. Currell, Doug Poindexter operates Custom Yacht Group, LLC, an Annapolis, Maryland-based company that links buyers with custom boat builders in the U.S. and around the world.
With builders in distant locales such as Nova Scotia, Istanbul, and the Netherlands, Poindexter relies on the convenience of Secured Marine Trust’s (SMT) ONEtool transaction management system, which he adopted last year. “ONEtool helps us because we’re specialized within the industry,” said Poindexter. “This technology makes it easy for me, as an individual business person, to close a deal from any location.”
The father of two preschoolers, Poindexter requires flexibility to transact business whenever the opportunity presents itself. “I have to be everywhere,” he said. “With SMT’s ONEtool, it’s quick and easy to load boats into the system from my laptop, using the boat’s hull identification number. Its functionality also lets me work with new buyers to sell the boats they currently own.”
